Parking Just Got More Expensive at Mount Rushmore National Memorial

Share

It just got more a bit expensive to visit Mount Rushmore National Memorial, as the cost of a parking pass was bumped up a buck, to $11, as of today.

The rate bump was sought by the parking concessioner, the Mount Rushmore National Memorial Society, to help cover increased costs associated with maintenance, and operational costs including wage increases.

With this rate increase, the concessioner is researching the option of accepting credit cards as a form of fee payment, a release from the memorial said.

For further information regarding a Mount Rushmore parking pass, contact the Mount Rushmore National Memorial Society at 605.341.8883.

Well, Chief, some might question that....

I went there with my son, on two motorcycles, which could easily fit into one space. However they needed two parking fees...$22.00. We said forget it and drove on. Greed.

Visited Mt Rushmore in 2014 and was informed very bluntly that my Senior Pass was not honored at this facility.  More I would have to pay cash!  I did not know it was for parking?  The cashier could have explained the Senior Pass did not cover parking!  It appeared to me if you wanted to visit the monument there was no other choice for parking and a review of the map it still appears that way.  I was upset then because I did not understand the fee was solely for parking (it was implied it also covered admission since they told me I could be permitted to enter to go the gift shop to use the ATM and then return to pay the cashier.)

Did not stay more than 1 hour and would never consider going back!  Like the area but not the staff at the Monument parking garage.

I agree - they found a way to take money from the retired who earned the right to see the sites.  I had the same exact question and thank you for saying what you did.

Too bad it's not finished
