In honor of Halloween, here’s a quiz and trivia piece that’s all about those ghosty ghoulies and their associated protected lands. The two of us have enjoyed a half century of travel, much of it devoted to visiting America’s national parks. The initial three decades involved travel in a series of four Volkswagen campers, a vehicle we loved, but that disappeared in 2004 from VW dealers in the United States. If only the company would export its California van to the U.S. More recently we tented and stayed in national park lodges. The many national park visits offered some wonderful surprises including these ten that we seem to remember best.

New Parking Area Opens Up At Old Rag Mountain In Shenandoah National Park

A new parking area will open up on June 11, 2020, at Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah National Park. Built to provide improvced National Park Service access to the Old Rag area hiking trails, this parking lot is closer to Old Rag trails, allowing visitors to remain in the park without hiking on Route 600.
