President Trump on Monday donated his salary for the first three months of the year to the National Park Service, a move quickly ridiculed as a publicity stunt by some groups.

Three desert tortoises, a threatened species, have been killed at Joshua Tree National Park in California. Two of the slow-moving tortoises were run over by motorists in a park campground, according to park staff.

After a centennial year that brought more than 2.3 million visitors to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, park officials are anticipating what all early indications suggest will be another very busy year and summer season. A rockslide in Grand Canyon National Park has forced the closure of the Colorado River Trail between Pipe Creek and the Silver Bridge for trail repair starting Monday. The trail will be closed to foot traffic and stock use.
