Interior Department Eyes Removal Of Non-Native Trout From Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park

Non-native trout, while prized by anglers who fish the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam, threaten to wipe out native species in the river that can't compete with them. While Interior Department officials have a plan to remove the trout, it's effectiveness is being questioned.

Interior Secretary Cites "Most Endangered River" As Model Of America's Great Outdoors River Initiative

Apparently top Interior Department officials didn't get the memo: The Chattahoochee River, which Interior Secretary Ken Salazar says is a "model of the America's Great Outdoors River Initiative," is also considered one of the nation's most endangered rivers by American Rivers.

Olympic National Park's Kalaloch Lodge Gets New Concessionaire

In a bit of a surprise, the National Park Service has awarded Delaware North the concessions contract for facilities in the Kalaloch area of Olympic National Park. The 10-year contract includes operation of Kalaloch Lodge in addition to food and beverage services, retail, firewood sales, and fuel sales.
