Interior Secretary Sued For Not Following Endangered Species Guidelines In Gulf of Mexico
The Center for Biological Diversity, which earlier this summer threatened to sue federal officials and BP over Kemp’s ridley sea turtles being killed in oil fires, now is going after Interior Secretary Ken Salazar for failing to assess how the Deepwater Horizon oil spill is impacting endangered whales and sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico.

Eggs from Rare Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle Nest Being Moved from Gulf Islands National Seashore
Life hasn't been easy for Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles in recent years, but the ongoing impacts of the oil spill have raised new concerns for the rare animals. Biologists are moving eggs from a nest at Gulf Islands National Seashore ; they will be incubated, hatched, and ultimately released into the Atlantic Ocean.

Judge Tosses Personal Watercraft Rules at Gulf Islands National Seashore, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
In a ruling that could be viewed as another indictment of the Bush administration's management of federal lands in general and national parks specifically, a judge has thrown out rules governing personal watercraft use at Gulf Islands National Seashore and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

Groups Notify BP, U.S. Coast Guard, They'll Be Sued Over Burning of Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtles
Claims that endangered Kemp's ridley sea turtles are being burned alive under efforts to clean up oil from the Deepwater Horizon disaster have prompted two groups to sue BP and the U.S. Coast Guard.
