Great Strides Made In Recovery Population Of Endangered Island Fox At Channel Islands National Park

The island fox, once thought to be ready to vanish from Channel Islands National Park, has made a stunning recovery and now counts more than 2,500 individuals. Park officials say the fox population overall is at or approaching biological recovery following its near-95 percent decline in the 1990s.

Historic Agreement Aims To Restore, Protect Chesapeake Bay Watershed

A cleaner Chesapeake Bay watershed. That's the goal of a multi-state agreement written to focus on restoring and protecting the bay and its feeder streams. Senate to fill that gap, and the proposal would designate a large animal that's a big visitor draw in several national parks. What's being suggested for the "national mammal of the United States"?
