Cave tours have resumed at Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota after repairs were made to the transformer that operates elevators down into the park's cave system.
The transformer went down on April 29, forcing a halt to all cave tours in the park. Operations returned to normal on Wednesday. Tours offered throughout the day are the Natural Entrance Tour, lasting 75 minutes with 300 stairs, and the hour-long Garden of Eden Tour with 150 stairs. Reservations for tours on or after May 13 can be made by visiting recreation.gov.
The park also has new exhibits in the visitor center that tell the story of this land and the people who have lived on it. The park visitor center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours beginning Memorial Day Weekend.
