Thanks to all who supported National Parks Traveler on Giving Tuesday with more than $2,000 in donations. That sum, along with the many donations made in November, moves Traveler closer to our year-end NewsMatch campaign goal of $35,000.
With the national NewsMatch campaign to raise revenues for nonprofit media organizations running through December 31, we'll be especially grateful for any additional donors who can guarantee a truly successful campaign.
The donations are especially appreciated this year, as many are struggling with the impacts of Covid-19. They will provide a cushion as we close out 2020 and move into 2021 with a range of editorial items on our to-list. Among those items (pandemic allowing) are:
- Continuing to expand our coverage of parks, with stories in the coming weeks and months from Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site, Grand Canyon National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Zion National Park, in addition to our regular coverage.
- Releasing our 2nd Annual Threatened and Endangered Parks package of stories.
- Following the transition to the Biden administration and how that affects the Interior Department, National Park Service, and public lands and wildlife matters.
- Expanding coverage into parks beyond U.S. borders.
We'll continue to add to this list with a goal of more diverse and robust coverage of national parks and protected areas throughout 2021.
