Share

A teenager who went hiking off-trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park last Friday but failed to return home was the subject of a search Tuesday.

Park officials say Austin Bohanan, from Blount County, Tenneessee, was reportedly last seen hiking off-trail in the remote southwest corner of the park on Friday evening. He was reported missing at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

On Tuesday, four search teams, consisting of rangers from the park’s search and rescue team, officers with Tennessee Wildlife Resource Authority, and individuals with the Backcountry Unit Search and Rescue team were searching the area.
