The Yellowstone Park Foundation and Nature’s Best Photography magazine announce the launch of the 2nd Annual Yellowstone Forever Photo Contest.
This competition will document and celebrate the world’s first national park through the art of photography and public participation. Established on March 1, 1872, Yellowstone National Park covers more than 2.2 million acres. Home to an amazing variety of wildlife, geothermal features, and vast wilderness the park inspires millions of visitors to take pictures and share their experiences.
ENTER PHOTOS IN THESE CATEGORIES:
WILDLIFE: Wild animals (mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, etc.) including portraits, behavior, predation, and adults with young. *Note: Photos of captive animals ARE NOT accepted.
LANDSCAPES: Dramatic waterfalls, erupting geysers, expansive mountain views, and the many thermal features of Yellowstone. Plant life (flowers, trees, and other flora) close-ups, wide-open vistas, storms, sunrises, and sunsets.
ENTRY FEES:
Pro and Amateur, $25 US to enter up to 20 photos per entry.
Youth $10 US to enter up to 20 photos per entry.
GRANTS AND AWARDS: Grants and awards will be sent after the final selection of winners has been made in spring of 2017. Winning images will also be featured in a cover story of the next Spring/Summer issue of Nature’s Best Photography magazine, displayed in an exhibition at the Old Faithful Haynes Photo Shop in Yellowstone National Park, and will appear in online galleries and multimedia presentations. RULES AND JUDGING: The winning images will be selected for technical quality, originality, artistic merit, and overall appeal. Entries are carefully reviewed and selected by the Judging Panel of experts in photography, publishing, education, and conservation:
Tom Murphy: A world-renowned nature and wildlife photographer, Tom spends approximately 100 days per year in Yellowstone National Park, and his love of the park is evident in his inspired images and in his continuing generosity to the Yellowstone Park Foundation.
Steve Freligh: Editor-in Chief and Publisher of Nature's Best Photography magazine and director of the Windland Smith Rice International Awards.
