Ranger-led tours to Cliff Palace in 2016 will begin May 27 at Mesa Verde National Park/Kurt Repanshek

Popular ranger-guided tours to the Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado will begin for 2016 starting April 10, with three tours available by Memorial Day weekend.

Visits to these dwellings, which are only accessible via the guided tours, will run through the summer and into the fall:

  • Balcony House: Begin April 10, with tours every hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Long House: Begin May 14, with tours at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m.
  • Cliff Palace: Begin May 27, with tours every half-hour from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tickets for these tours, which cost $4 per person, are available at the Visitor and Research Center, Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum, and the Colorado Welcome Center in Cortez. Tickets must be purchased in person but are available up to two days in advance beginning April 10.

For more details about the length, difficulty, and starting locations of the guided hikes, as well as updates, visit the park’s website.

Will be visiting on or about mid-May and hoping to visit all three sites on the same day. Is it possible?
