Searching For Ghosts At Voyageurs National Park

Share

Ghosts will be the subject later this month at Voyageurs National Park when rangers will lead lantern-lit hikes in search of figures out of the past.

A park ranger portraying Ingvald Walter Stevens (or I.W., as he was commonly known) will lead a group of 30 adventurous souls on this journey through the grounds of the Rainy Lake Visitor Center. Characters representing the varied history of the park landscape will emerge from the darkness and delight the group with vignettes of their time.

Programs will be presented from 7 pm to 8:30 pm on the following dates:

* Thursday, September 26

* Friday, September 27

* Saturday, September 28

Participants should meet inside the Rainy Lake Visitor Center at 6:30 p.m. for check-in and preparation. In case of inclement weather, the programs will be held inside.

Participants will use candle-lit lanterns to light the path. The ground is rocky and uneven in places; good footwear is recommended. Please dress for the weather and do not bring headlamps or flashlights.

The program is free, but reservations are required. Participants must be at least 5 years old. Reservations will be taken beginning today. Call the Rainy Lake Visitor Center for more information or to make your reservations today. (218) 286-5258.
